May 3 Best Summer Ales on Long Island

Summertime means summer ales! You’re guaranteed to find a new favorite among the plentiful craft breweries on Long Island. Here’s some of our favorite summer-inspired creations:

1. Montauk Watermelon Session Ale

Montauk Brewing Company started in 2012 with 3 friends brewing in a basement on Long Island. Their first kegs were filled by hand and delivered on bicycles to local bars. The small operation developed a dedicated, local following and has since gained attention and accolades from beer fans across New York. This summer they’ve released a completely new seasonal ale, the Watermelon Session Ale. It’s a pale ale with subtle watermelon flavor, “perfect for sipping under the summer sun,” according to the founders. This refreshing beer will be stocked in the “Grab n’ Go” section near Hotel Indigo’s front desk. Come by and give it a try!

tw22. Blue Point Brewing Company Summer Ale

Blue Point Brewing Company, founded in 1998, has crafted 30 beer varieties over their nearly 20-year-long history. Their flagship beer, the Toasted Lager is a two-time World Beer Cup medal-winning American Amber Lager. They’ve built on this success offering a summer ale that is available now through August. It’s refreshing, uniquely tart, and on the lighter side, as any good summer ale is. Tour their facilities on Saturdays at 1pm or 4pm for a tasting (Tours are free, but reservations are not taken unless you are large group.) Or stop by their tasting room between 3pm and 9pm, Wednesday – Friday or between noon and 9pm on Saturdays.

tw33. Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. Summer Ale

Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. opened in 2009 and it’s dazzling success lead to the opening of a second location in Peconic just five years later. On the weekends, this location often hosts live music performances, art shows or food from local eateries. They have a wide selection of beers available, but their summer ale truly stands out. Greenport Harbor describes their summer ale as “a refreshingly delicious, moderately hopped golden ale brewed with a touch of orange blossom honey for a light, slightly sweet and floral finish.” Visit their tasting room on Fridays and Saturdays between noon and 7pm or Sundays noon to 6pm for a sip!

Take a weekend and enjoy each one of these fantastic options! Reserve a stay at Hotel Indigo Long Island – East End by calling us at (631) 369-2200 ext. 0.
