Jun 3 Breweries You Need to Visit on the East End

It wasn’t long ago that you may have had to ask what a ‘microbrewery’ or ‘craft beer’ even is. As craft beer proliferates into a phenomenon that drinkers celebrate year-round instead of just on special occasions, we present the three East End breweries that are a must-visit this summer.

1) Greenport Harbor Brewing Co.

This admirable operation now features two East End locations: the original home in Greenport and a new, larger facility in Peconic with an open-air tasting room. This summer, Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. will begin releasing special-edition “OG series” (which stands for ‘Original Greenport’) beers brewed in the village in the very same tanks as the first Harbor Ale.

The brewery will be hosting a 7th anniversary party on July 16th. Be sure to check their website for updates on events. More in-depth coverage of this North Fork gem can be found here.

2) Crooked Ladder Brewing Company

Besides the eight diverse beer selections that you get to try for only $10, you get to take home your very own Crooked Ladder pint glass. This brewery, the work of a Long Island native and wood craftsman, is as handsome as it’s beers are delicious. It is conveniently located in downtown Riverhead and can be reached easily in five minutes on the Hotel Indigo shuttle.

Summeritis is the must-try summer ale brewed with hops that give it a nice, crisp citrus flavor.

3) Montauk Brewing Company

The drive to Montauk is almost as fun as the brewery. The tasting room, featuring outdoor seating and located near the bustle of town, is a fun place to spend an afternoon taking in the sun and laughing with friends. It’s also a fun place to meet people from all over the region who are visiting Long Island.

Montauk’s Summer Ale is now on tap and is a fan favorite across LI.
