Long Island’s North Fork is a pastoral oasis of vineyards and farms. Recently accolades for North Fork wines have been calling even more attention to the region. We’ve always been proud of our home and the surrounding vineyards. In terms of recognition for great wines, The North Fork has finally arrived.

This month, The North Fork’s own Lieb Cellars’ 2013 Reserve Pinot Blanc was given the distinction of being one of the top wines at The Wall Street Journal’s annual dozen wine tasting.
This recognition comes on the heels of recent attention from other notable publications including Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, The Wine Spectator and The New York Times.

This past summer, several of the North Fork’s wines scored high marks from The Wine Advocate. Seventy-four wines received scores of 90 and above, a record for the region, with Wölffer Estate Vineyard coming out on top for its Descencia Botrytis Chardonnay and Diosa Late Harvest. Both wines tied for the highest score, each having earned 94 points.

Paumanok Vineyards was awarded Winery of the Year Award at the 2015 New York Wine and Food Classic This win marked the third year in a row a Long Island wine producer has been graced with the honor.

According to the North Fork Promotion Council, the first vineyards on the East End were planted back in 1973 and have since then grown to be on the radar of the most discerning palettes. The North Fork has stepped out of the shadows of Napa and Sonoma. With more than 50 vineyards and a plethora varieties of wine, visitors and enthusiasts will find no shortage of options.
