Feb Discover the East End’s Arts Scene at Winterfest’s Kickoff Party

The kickoff event for Long Island Winterfest Live on the Vine will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. In addition to live music by the East End Trio, special tastings from local restaurants, vineyards and breweries, and raffle prizes, several institutions representing the East End’s arts scene will be present. Suffolk Theater

Over five years, the Suffolk Theater restored its Art Deco cinema space into a full-service performing arts center. It’s goal–re-establishing the cinema-playhouse tradition in downtown.  It provides varied and diverse programming designed to entertain people of all ages and explore different genres. In honor of Winterfest, they’re hosting an eclectic set of events. On Friday, February 17th at 8pm, catch “Ozzmosis! – A World Class Ozzy Tribute.” The show promises to “transport you through time to experience the energy of Ozzy Osbourne capturing his solo career from Randy Rhoads to Zakk Wylde. Goin’ off the rails on a crazy train.” Find more information about the event here. On Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th at 8pm catch a showing of  Million Dollar Quartet, the official Broadway show about the night Johnny Cash met Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins for a jam session at Sun Studios in Memphis! East End Arts

Serving the East End since 1972, the East End Arts is a multi-award winning not-for-profit arts organization dedicated to building and enriching the community through the arts by way of education, support, advocacy, and inspiration. For Winterfest, they’re hosting three fantastic events. On Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 4:00 PM see their show “One Painting – One Artist – And The Creative Mind” with Jonathan Pearlman, featuring Artist Roxanne Panero at Good Ground Yoga. On Sunday, February 26, 2017, 3:00 – 5:00 PM, view art at the Rosalie Dimon Gallery Artists’ Reception, featuring paintings by Steve Alpert and photography by James Slezak at the Jamesport Manor Inn. Local wines and artisanal cheeses will be served. This free event is open to the public. For more information, click here.

Finally, on Friday, March 10, 2017, 5:00 – 7:00 PM, go to the East End Arts Gallery Opening Reception: Texture at the East End Arts Gallery. Artists of all media’s skillful use (or visual illusion) of surface texture will be featured in this juried exhibit. Guest juror is George Billis, owner of the George Billis Gallery, with locations in Southampton, NY; Chelsea, NY; and Los Angeles, CA. Exhibition dates are March 10 – April 21, 2017. Peconic Ballet Theater

This year East End Arts and Peconic Ballet Theatre collaborated together to create Art Barre: A Collection of the East End’s Finest Arts, an event series for enthusiasts of all disciplines of visual and performing arts, as well as all community members, sponsored by Martha Clara Vineyards. Guests will have the opportunity to view an art exhibition by a notable East End Arts member artist to the tune of music by an East End Arts music program alum. After wine tasting and gallery viewing, guests will find their way to Peconic Ballet Theatre’s intimate performance space to see a collection of work presented by Peconic Ballet Theatre’s professional dancers. The dancers will perform pieces of work that range from classical ballet to Jazz and even Modern. Performances occur on March 4th, March 11th, and March 18th.Tickets are $20 and include 2 glasses of Martha Clara Wine. Ticket purchases benefit the Peconic Ballet Foundation, which offers students the opportunity to dance that may not otherwise have had the chance.
