Aug Harvest East End 2013 — Celebrating 40 Years of LI Wine Country

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the North Fork wine region, and Harvest East End 2013 is the culmination of our celebration. Bistro 72 is excited to be participating in the wine tastings at Harvest East End, and hopes to see you there on Saturday, August 24th!

Did you know that the wine we produce right here on Long Island is world-renowned, thanks to a combination of age-old growing techniques and state-of-the-art technologies used by our vineyard operations? The East End’s wine production emerged from a single budding vineyard, and has blossomed into 50 wineries spanning an incredible 3,000 acres!

The 40th annual Harvest East End welcomes Master of Ceremonies Joshua Wesson of Best Cellars. Wesson’s expertise when it comes to wine is deeply rooted in his longstanding presence in the wine and spirits industry, and his collection of awards and commendations is both lengthy and impressive. In addition, Harvest East End is to have Ron Goerler Jr., owner and winemaker of Jamesport Vineyards and President of the LI Wine Council, as this year’s Event Chair.

This year’s event is being organized by the collaborative efforts of the Long Island Wine Council, and Merliance, a not for profit trade organization focused on the optimization of the production of Merlot wines and Merlot-based blends. Beneficiaries of the funds raised include the East End Hospice, a NYS-certified hospice serving the Eastern Suffolk community, which depends heavily on donation support, the Group for the East End, which protects and restores Eastern LI’s environment by fostering a conservative ethic amongst the community, and the Peconic Land Trust, which is responsible for protecting over 10,000 acres of LI’s working farms and natural land since 1983.

We have something to be incredibly proud of right in our backyards, so get out and join us in celebrating the rich history of Long Island Wine Country!
