bakithi kumalo
BAKITHI KUMALO – Saturday, February 20, 2016 | 7pm-11pm
Starting the festival off at Hotel Indigo is Bakithi Kumalo. Thought by many as one of the most talented living bassists Bakithi is best known for his enlistment into Paul Simon’s group during the recording of Simon’s 1985 album Graceland.

Since then, Kumalo continues to tour with Simon and has worked with numerous notable artists including: Gloria Estefan, Derrick Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, Chico Ceasar, Harry Belafonte, Laurie Anderson, Cyndi Lauper, Gerald Albright, Miriam Makeba, Randy Brecker, Grover Washington Jr., Bob James, Angelique Kidjo, Jon Secada, Josh Groban and Chris Botti.

Kumalo creates a singular electric fretless bass sound teeming with double stops that sound like human voices and the African grooves of his homeland. Bakithi returns to Hotel Indigo’s ballroom on Saturday, February 20th bringing his friends, which will make for a memorable jam session.

Late Night Gospel Choir
THE LATE SHOW’S GOSPEL CHOIR – Sunday, February 19, 2016 | 11am-2pm
We are thrilled to have the Late Show’s Gospel Choir for a very special Sunday brunch. Harmony, Melodies and Mimosas!

This phenomenal choir was originally formed to sing exclusively for CBS TV’s popular “LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN,” 19 years ago in October ’95, when the show’s musical director, Paul Shaffer was looking for a choir to film a video about a crazy guy named, “MOE.” However, when Paul heard the harmonious voices of the choir who had been selected by its founder, Gospel Diva, Lady Peachena, he invited the choir to sing live on the show the very next night. They’ve been singing together ever since, making more than 13 appearances on “THE LATE SHOW,” over the years.
