Jun Must-See East End Arts Events Through June

We could talk about how great the food, scenery, and wine on the East End is until we’re blue in the face, but that’s by no means all that our incredible area has to offer! Our friends over at East End Arts put together a collection of all the arts events going on out here, and we wanted to make sure that you know about the different gallery shows and performances happening throughout the month of June! This week, we’re going to focus on the North Fork Arts, but be sure to check back next week for Arts on the South Fork!

Rosalie Dimon Gallery

Jamesport Manor Inn, 370 Manor Ln., Jamesport | (631) 722-0500

The Jamesport Manor Inn partners with East End Arts to showcase incredible artists in our community. Thanks to public funding from Suffolk County, the partnership is able to introduce these up-and-coming artists to our neighbors, and we are all able to enjoy their art together.

Their current exhibit, which began on May 2 and will continue until July 30, features Anahi DeCanio’s painting “Turquesa,” and Michael Maas’s linocut titled “Bittersweet Vines,” along with many other pieces from both artists. The gallery is open for viewing Wednesday – Sunday, 12-10pm, during lunch and dinner service.

Riverhead Town Hall Gallery

Riverhead Town Hall, 200 Howell Ave., Riverhead | (631) 727-3200

The Riverhead Town Hall is another organization that collaborates with East End Arts to bring free gallery exhibits to the public. This gallery is open from Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm.

From June 6 to September 4, Marla Milne is the featured artist at the Riverhead Town Hall Gallery. Her watercolor painting, “Carriage in Cartagena,” is on display, alongside other works.

East End Arts Gallery

East End Arts, 133 E. Main St., Riverhead | (631) 727-0900

The newest gallery show at East End Arts is the COMPOSITION show. It’s an all media, juried art show, with guest juror Eric Brown, Artist and Co-Owner of the Tibor de Nagy Gallery in NYC!

The show will be running from June 20 to August 1, with gallery hours Tuesday – Saturday, 10am-4pm. As always, admission to the East End Arts Gallery is free.

There will be a reception event this evening, Friday, June 20, from 5 to 7. You’ll have the opportunity to meet the artists, and refreshments will be served. Natalia Clarke, a member of East End Arts’ Working Artists, will be photographing the event.

North Fork Premiere Indie Film Showcase: Summer in February

Peconic Landing Community Center, 1500 Brecknock Rd., Greenport | (631) 477-2583

This Saturday, June 21, the Peconic Landing Community Center will be premiering Summer in February! Check out the trailer @ summerinfebruary.com. The showing begins at 7:30 and tickets are $10 each.

Artisan Showcase Series featuring Justine Moody, Felt Artist

East End Arts Gallery, 133 E. Main St., Riverhead | (631) 727-0900

Also this Saturday, June 21, there will be an artist demonstration at the East End Arts Gallery by Justine Moody! She will be showing visitors the basic process of wet felting. Watching this demo is a one-time only event at East End Arts Gallery, so be sure not to miss it! In addition, Moody will have her hand-crafted felt items for sale on Saturday.

So much art, so little time! Be sure to check out all of these great local exhibits. A big thanks to our friends at East End Arts for not only sharing all of this amazing art with our community, but for giving us a huge hand in collecting all the information so that we could deliver it to you! Stay tuned for more events on the South Fork.
