23 Dec Hotel Indigo East End’s Year in Review
This year was a big one for all of us at Hotel Indigo East End, and Long Island’s East End in general! There were so many fabulous events hosted out here, which really gave the world a glimpse of just how wonderful our community truly is. We all have so much to be proud of and thankful for, and as a farewell to this year, we would like to recap some of the great memories we have from 2013 with our Year in Review.
Long Island Winterfest continued the theme Jazz on the Vine during its sixth annual celebration this past February – March. The event spanned over six consecutive weekends, and brought incredible jazz performances to venues all over Long Island’s East End. There were 19 wineries that participated by hosting the performances in their tasting rooms, and there were over 70 performances in total! There were a number of Grammy recipients and Grammy-nominated artists who participated in the program, all of whom put on outstanding performances during the course of the celebration. We’re looking forward to the coming Winterfest celebration, as we move toward a new theme for 2014: Live on the Vine, which will introduce live Blues, Country, Rock and Soul acts in addition to the Jazz!
Dan’s Papers, our favorite source for local news, launched its first annual food and wine event this July, called Dan’s Taste of Two Forks and featured celebrity Chef Bobby Flay as host. The event celebrated the wineries and restaurants that serve both the North and South Forks of Long Island. Some of the culinary greats who were showcased at the event included: Blue Parrot, Almond, Starr Boggs, Fresno, LT Burger, La Plage, Mosaic, Luce & Hawkins, Nick & Toni’s, Savanna’s, Serafina, Southfork Kitchen, Montauk Yacht Club, and Vine Street Café. In addition to Bobby Flay, there were a number of other famous chefs who made appearances, including Marcus Samuelsson and Sarabeth Levine. The event benefited East End food pantries through the Have a Heart Community Trust, and was MC’d by FOX 5 News anchor Rosanna Scotto.
Harvest East End: McCall Vineyard & Ranch in Cutchogue graciously hosted a night to remember during Harvest East End celebration in August. More than 1,300 food-and-wine lovers from all over Long Island got together to celebrate the forty-year history of winemaking on Long Island’s East End. We spent the evening enjoying the food and wine from 43 wineries and 32 restaurants from the area, and everyone had an absolute blast. Nearly $50,000 was raised for charity during the event, benefiting East End Hospice, Group for the East End, the Peconic Land Trust, and the Long Island Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Foundation.
