05 Jun Best of the North Fork: Riverhead to Greenport Restaurants
The picturesque North Fork of Long Island is the ideal summer destination for most travelers looking for a place to get away. The feeling of the sand beneath your toes and the sound of waves crashing against the shore is something that we natives sometimes take for granted. As you make your daytrip out to the North Fork to enjoy the summer in all its glory, keep our list of fabulous local restaurants in mind to find the all the best spots from Riverhead to Greenport!
Greenport Restaurants
The Frisky Oyster
Owner and chef Robby Beaver is a huge proponent of the local food movement, supporting sustainable and organic farming by incorporating it into his handcrafted menu at The Frisky Oyster. We ran into Robby and his wife last year at Harvest East End, where they were sampling some of their absolutely delicious oysters.
Noah’s
If you couldn’t tell, we’re suckers for oysters, but who isn’t when they’re so readily available on our wonderful East End? Back at Harvest East End, we also enjoyed some oysters from Noah’s. Chef Noah Schwartz is proud to boast the only raw bar in Greenport.
aLure
If grabbing some drinks by the water and dining outside as the sun sets is up your alley, be sure to check out aLure! Just as we do at Bistro 72, they feature live music on Fridays from 6-9, and offer happy hour specials from 4-7pm on weekdays!
Wine Country Restaurants
North Fork Table & Inn, Southold
This progressive American restaurant offers a seasonally inspired menu that features the freshest seafood and locally grown biodynamic and organic produce. Not only can you find their menu on their website, but you can even book your dinner reservation!
Love Lane Kitchen, Mattituck
You already know how we feel about Love Lane (hint: it’s in the name!), so it’s no wonder we’d recommend dining at the adorable Love Lane Kitchen. Whether you’re just dropping by for a coffee and pastry or a full dinner, you won’t be disappointed by this darling little spot! We had a taste of their bean salad at Harvest East End, and trust us, it was delish.
aMano, Mattituck
After spending the day strolling Long Island’s North Shore, take a little trip to the Tuscan countryside for dinner without the flight. Dive into a scrumptious wood-oven fired pizza, made with local ingredients from nearby farms. You’ll only ever get the best, freshest food when you’re dining on Long Island’s East End!
Riverhead Restaurants
The Riverhead Project
After the wild success of well-known restaurateur Dennis McDermott’s first restaurant, The Frisky Oyster, he moved west to downtown Riverhead to embark on a new venture. The Riverhead Project has played an important role in the revival of downtown Riverhead. We’re glad their menu is so incredible, because we’re sure they’ll stick around for a long time, continuing to strengthen our local community.
Cliff’s Rendezvous
This family owned and operated restaurant has been a local favorite in downtown Riverhead since 1977. The steakhouse has a wide range of menu options for a hearty meal in a casual setting. There’s no going wrong with any of the classics at Cliff’s!
Bistro 72
Last but absolutely, certainly, never, ever least, is everyone’s favorite Riverhead restaurant, Bistro 72! While we would be over-the-moon if our guests dined exclusively at Bistro, we know that our East End community is as strong and wonderful as it is because the businesses out here are neighborly, and always make sure to spread the love. Hotel Indigo East End is your premier choice for a luxurious place to stay while you’re visiting the North Fork, but we encourage you to explore the depths of what our amazing area has to offer, and that includes grabbing a bite at all these great restaurants!
