12 Aug It’s Almost Time for Dan’s Harvest East End 2014!
If you thought last year’s Harvest East End, the celebration of 40 years of LI Wine Country, was spectacular—and it was—you’ll be blown away by what we have in store this year! Dan’s Papers has stepped up to the plate to organize, along with the Long Island Wine Council, one of the most extraordinary events of the year on Long Island’s North Fork. This year, more than 40 local winemakers and over 30 top regional chefs and food artisans will join us for a Long Island food-and-wine celebration of epic proportions.
Dan’s Harvest East End will celebrate local artisans, regional wine makers, and several worthy neighborhood charities, including Peconic Land Trust, Long Island Farm Bureau, and Promotion & Education Foundation. Since HARVEST’s inception in 2010, it has raised over $153,000 for its charity beneficiaries. The event will take place from 6:30PM to 10PM on Saturday, August 23, at the bucolic McCall Vineyard and Ranch in Mattituck, whose owners, the McCall Family, also graciously hosted last year’s event.
Harvest East End 2013 was nothing short of spectacular, and we spent months thereafter raving about the food and wine we tasted that night. In fact, I learned about White Merlot that night from the folks at Sannino Bella Vita Vineyard (their White Merlot is simply out of this world!), a wine that’s made from Merlot grapes in the same fashion as White Zinfandel, and often has a hint of raspberry in its flavor. I hadn’t even known this type of wine existed before HARVEST 2013, and I’ve subsequently educated several fellow patrons in local liquor stores about it while shopping. HARVEST gave me the unique opportunity to try a wide variety of wines, all made right here on Long Island, and really opened up my world to all I’d been missing!

As locals, the team at Hotel Indigo East End is beyond proud of our East End community, and everything our region has to offer. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: the East End has a wealth of culture that is unlike anywhere else.
