Nov Five after 5: Things to do on the East End This Weekend

This weekend create memorable moments to be thankful for. Here are five things on the East End that remind you why it’s such a special place.

Friday

1. Restaurant Week continues through 7pm on Friday and Saturday so don’t miss your opportunity to try Bistro 72’s exquisitely crafted cuisine. The prix fixe Restaurant Week menu can be seen here and why stop there? Enjoy one of our new Fall cocktails to finish off the meal. Saturday

2. Tour a vineyard and drink some bubbly. Head over to Pindar Vineyards for a Champagne Tour where you can learn what goes into the making of Champagne. Watch Pindar complete the “méthode champenoise” process–disgorge, dosage, cork, wire net the bottles in preparation for the Holiday season. Each ticket includes a glass of their Cuvee Rare Champagne and hors d’oeuvres. 2-4 pm.

3. Food Demonstration: Chocolate Painted Cannolis & Cone-olis  
Bring your baking skills or your desire to learn some and make an Italian favorite. Chef Rob returns for a baking class where he will teach you how to make your own cannoli from scratch and paint shells with melted chocolate ready to eat or take home. Everyone will take home 3 cannollis & 3 cone-olis. Pre-register. 2 pm. Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library

4. See The Stars
Southold’s Custer Institute, the oldest observatory on Long Island, is host to the 38th Annual Astronomy Jamboree. Keynote speaker Professor Sam Storch will give his talk Basking in the Shadow of the Moon at 8 pm; raffle drawing at 9 pm; observe at the telescope and enjoy refreshments starting at 9:30 pm.

Sunday

5. Tour Horton Point Lighthouse with the author Jay Dolin
The Horton Point Lighthouse in Southold is usually closed this time of year. However, this Sunday at 2pm, Jay Dolin, Author of Brilliant Beacons: A History of the American Lighthouse, will meet people at the lighthouse. You can take a tour and climb the tower. 2pm. .  of: Brilliant Beacons: A History of the American Lighthouse, Southold. Eric Jay Dolin, author Brilliant Beacons, meets people at Horton Point Lighthouse, which people can explore. Normally the lighthouse is closed this time of year. 2pm.
