Top 5 Beaches for Memorial Day Weekend
Beaches
Long Island’s East End is known for many luxuries, and our beaches are at the top of that list. The beautiful thing about being out East is that everywhere you look, you’ll see the ocean. Here are some of the top-rated East End beaches:
East Hampton Main Beach
This is a private beach that is super secluded. Non-residents can acquire daily parking permits, but they’re extremely limited, so it’s important to get to the Main Beach Pavilion bright and early if you plan on parking at Main Beach. For more info on the East Hampton beaches, check out the village website.
Cupsogue Beach
One of the best beaches in Westhampton is Cupsogue Beach. Not only do you get the quintessential East End beach experience, but the park provides opportunities for fishing, scuba diving, camping, and special events throughout the season. People who love to fish are especially partial to Cupsogue, which boasts the finest saltwater bass fishing on the Island. Visit the Suffolk County website for more on Cupsogue Beach.
Cooper’s Beach
This Southampton beach offers 500 feet of scenic Long Island shoreline. Cooper’s Beach has chair and umbrella rentals for visitors, so all you need to do is show up—no worrying about toting all your chairs and things with you. You can even watch a live stream of Cooper’s Beach on the Hamptons website here.
Ponquogue Beach
Tucked away in the Hampton Bays, Ponquogue Beach is a favorite among families. It’s a great place for kids to run around and play in the white sand. There’s a lovely pavilion where families can have lunch and eat ice cream. Learn more about Ponquogue here.
Iron Pier Beach
A local favorite on the North Fork, Iron Pier Beach is nestled into the north shore in Jamesport. The beach is open to the public, but permits are required for both parking and 4×4 access. Iron Pier is popular for its fishing and jet skiing, and there is a boat ramp available for other water sports. Additionally, there’s a playground and picnic area for public use. Information about Iron Pier Beach can be found here.
